On this weeks member spotlight we speak with the friendly giant that is Lorcan Carey. Lorcan is a child at heart but a man mountain like something from game of Thrones and when he can play around with 100kg push presses he definitely isn’t someone you want to mess with. Funny story actually, I asked Lorcan was he playing a basketball match one week only a few weeks ago and he said he was playing rugby and the opposition where HUGE he said, I laughed out loud as I wondered what the opposition must have said about himself. Anyway, here is the man himself, thanks for taking the time out for the this buddy; * Name – Lorcán Carey * Age – 27 * Occupation Bartender * How long have to been at Guerilla Fitness ? Nearly a year. * What do you enjoy about Guerilla ? The community and the atmosphere in the gym and that no matter how good or bad you are doing in a workout people are there pushing you on. * What is your favourite and least favourite movements ? Favourite moments would be accomplishing a new skill or movement. Least favourite are anything to do with Thrusters! * What is your biggest achievement so far ? Being able to get an overhead squat. * What are your future goals ? To be able get my front rack position alot better and to be able to do more pullups,at around 130kg bodyweight there not the easiest! * Any advice for someone starting out or thinking of starting out with Guerilla. Dont be afraid to come to a class and try it out. Everyone here is so welcoming and friendly, that there is nothing to be afraid of or intimidated by. You wont get a better place to learn or improve your self. Even though it can be hard the satisfaction you get walking out after finishing a class is unmatched in any gym I’ve been to. * Tell us something we don’t know about you ? I coach Basketball roughly 4 times a week, To kids of all ages. The couple of hours each day I’m coaching them is probably the best part of my week 🙂 I also play Rugby and Basketball myself for Skibbereen. * Who is your gym buddy that you love training with the most ? Andrew Desmond with out doubt. He’s the reason I started and always encourages me to push myself. Plus he’s a great person and I’m glad to be able to call him my friend.
